I graduated in 2023 from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a B.S. in Kinesiology. I am now in my first year of physical therapy school here at USD. I was inspired to become a PT through the resilience of patients I worked with as a certified nurse assistant and direct care professional. As a PT student I am involved in SESDAC's Four-Square program, the PT Profession Service Committee, and the Vermillion Community Clinic Committee. I am a passionate advocate for people with disabilities and chronic conditions and am excited to enter the PT field and continue to work with those communities!

Dennis & Mary Jo Olson Family Medicine Scholarship
Lillian Schulte - $1000

I grew up in a small rural community south of the Twin cities. I am the oldest of four and part of a large extended family reaching into Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota. I attended the University of Wisconsin La Crosse where I majored in Microbiology and minored in Spanish. I also was a member of the Collegiate Women's Swim and Dive team and actively volunteered with the Salvation Army and the local nursing home. I chose to attend the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine due to the strong focus on primary care and the proximity to my immediate and extended family. I fell in love with family medicine during my first of three trips to Redfield, SD where I got to witness full-spectrum at its finest. I loved the variety and level of community integration that family medicine providers had. I love women's health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and infectious diseases.
My fiancé, Justin, and I are excited to be heading back to Wisconsin for residency at Gundersen Health systems in La Crosse. I look forward to being an advocate for the community as I serve all ages and abilities in my future career as a family medicine doctor.

Timothy J. and Kathleen Tracy Health Administration Scholarship
Julia Platt - $600

What drew me to Health Services Administration: I was drawn to Health Services Administration by an interest in both healthcare and business. Back in high school, I was drawn to the program due to the opportunities available within the healthcare field. I had job shadowed in a clinical setting at Avera Grasslands in my hometown, and I had also shadowed in a law firm the next semester. When I entered the HSAD program, I learned about the possibility of having a legal career within the healthcare industry and I knew that it would be the best path for me!

William Dendinger, MD Family Medicine Scholarship
Noah Fiegen - $600

I grew up on a farm in Dell Rapids, SD where I spent a lot of time with my dad working on the farm. I attended the University of South Dakota for my undergraduate degree where I met my wife. We got married the summer before my senior year and then began medical school at USD shortly after. While in medical school my wife gave birth to our two beautiful kids. For my future career, I plan to return to South Dakota following residency to practice family medicine in a rural location.
