Justine Zylstra is from Canton, SD. She attended the University of Sioux Falls to receive her degree in Exercise Science and competed on the track and field team. She is the USD Student Physical Therapy Association Treasurer and the director of Foursquare, a wellness program for individuals with disabilities. Justine is currently attending University of South Dakota to obtain her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She is looking forward to a career in pediatric physical therapy where she can empower her patients to achieve their highest potential.

Dennis & Mary Jo Olson Family Medicine Scholarship

Victor Strasburg is a fourth year medical student at the Sanford School of Medicine preparing to start a family medicine residency at the Center for Family Medicine in Sioux Falls, SD. Originally, from Faulk County, SD, he grew up on a farm and graduated from Faulkton High School. After graduating, Victor operated heavy machinery doing dirt construction for about a year. After that, he joined the Air Force for a 6-year enlistment. In the military, Victor worked on Satellite Communication equipment. After discharged, he earned a bachelor's degree from Minot State University in Sociology and did some coursework at the University of Missouri.  After finishing his residency at CFM, Victor hopes to practice family medicine somewhere in South Dakota.

William Dendinger, MD Family Medicine Scholarship

Ali Haines was raised on a farm outside of White Lake, SD and graduated from White Lake High School in 2012. She followed in the path of her five older siblings and attended USD (where the seventh Haines sibling now attends). There, she majored in Communication Studies and competed for the Coyote Track & Field team. She completed the Honors Program and graduated in 2016 Magna Cum Laude. Ali entered into the USD Sanford School of Medicine Class of 2020, pursuing rural and women's health tracks. She was in the Frontier and Rural Medicine program in Pierre, SD and REHPS program in Winner, SD. Ali will continue her training this summer as a first-year resident in the Rapid City Family Medicine Program. After graduation this May, Ali will be getting married to her fiancé, Kody Weiss, a civil engineer. They are excited to begin their new journey in Rapid City with their cats and plants!
